Frhed and His Amazing Expandable Signboard
Frhed is a fun guy and it is his pleasure to serve you.
You can download him (and all his parts) and use him FREE on your
noncommercial, non-business web site. Commercial usage and custom designs are available and reasonably priced.
Frhed will stand there forever, if you desire, holding as many menu
items as you might want to enter into your page. The beauty of the thing is that
this area is a Table that will expand down as items are added.
Of course, you don't have to use this as a menu. It can serve
just as well as an extraordinary decoration for an ordinary text page. Hopefully,
what you have to say won't be ordinary. Hopefully, it will be incredibly interesting
and enlightening - like this text.
This design (and Fhred himself) is held together by a couple of tables
containing numerous cells. The simplest way to save the page (using Netscape 3 or 4)
is: (1) go to File/Edit; (2) after it has opened in the editor do a "Save As" to
your hard drive. This should save the page and all of its pieces intact in one
place. If this method is not available to you, save the page and all 8 pieces
of the graphic and the background gif.
Keep the original to use as a template and make a copy, with a different file name, to
work on. Open the copy in your editor and substitute your text and customize the
hyperlinks.
The one hitch with this layout is that those using an older browser (such
as Netscape 2) will quite possibly see some pieces of the images unglued or messed up in
some odd way and this "signboard" area will be the same color as the
background. Bummer. A version that is more older-browser
friendly is available but it doesn't look quite as way-cool as this one.
