Justine Schneider and Honorah Fleming

Justine: "In 1952 our 84 (or more) -person class was split into two 45-person classes -- perhaps as we grew older (and presumably harder to control!). Thus, for the first time my best friend Honorah and I were in different scenes (episodes? mise-en-scenes - what would you call it?) in the Annual May "entertainment" (as I think it was called).

Our skit was unique: we recited the poem "The Bells" by Edgar Allen Poe and twirled around in a number choreographed by a lovely and patient woman named Mrs. Hughes. It may have been a critical success but a popular failure, but I have to credit Sr. Mary Avila for imagination! (At the time there were too many George M. Cohan clones marching around in red, white & blue Uncle Sam suits singing 'You're a Grand Old Flag.')

Honorah seems to be dressed as some sort of gypsy. Since we were being either kept in the wings waiting or being hustled down the stairs, I don't think I ever saw (and wouldn't remember if I did) their skit."

Sister Mary Robusta says, "Stand up straight and let them know you went to St. Pascal Baylon! Wear that 'St. Pascal Who?' hat and shirt with PRIDE - and don't slouch"!
